Liaison turns to breeding career

liaison06-2012HoY – 2013 = a disaster for Vollrath Liaison and her rider Jutta Rosenblatt.

Liaison and Jutta have been very successful over the last two seasons and the team was set to shine in the Level 2 at the HoY 2013, however an accident blew out the candle of success for the NZ title.

Liaison was kept at the HoY grounds in ‘portable and not anchored pipe yards’ provided by the organisers of the annual event.

We do not know what actually happened during the night; however the fact is that Liaison dragged the set of four yards about and injured (visibly) her hind leg in the process.

Jutta decided to scratch all entries and retire Liaison.

Due to Liaison showing still ‘unevenness’ after a fortnight – although her superficial skin injuries had healed completely – we decided to have her checked out with the shocking result: a crack in the pelvis!

Without further ado we made the decision to retire her from future competition and retain her for stud duties; she will have time to heal over winter.

… She will produce awesome foals in future – Berny is convinced of that.

Sadly, we lost a competition horse but gained a valuable broodmare – and that is a great outcome. Imagine the loss if she had been a gelding!
